This is a rabbit polyclonal antibody against DCLK1. It was validated on Western Blot

Target Description: This gene encodes a member of the protein kinase superfamily and the doublecortin family. The protein encoded by this gene contains two N-terminal doublecortin domains, which bind microtubules and regulate microtubule polymerization, a C-terminal serine/threonine protein kinase domain, which shows substantial homology to Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase, and a serine/proline-rich domain in between the doublecortin and the protein kinase domains, which mediates multiple protein-protein interactions. The microtubule-polymerizing activity of the encoded protein is independent of its protein kinase activity. The encoded protein is involved in several different cellular processes, including neuronal migration, retrograde transport, neuronal apoptosis and neurogenesis. This gene is up-regulated by brain-derived neurotrophic factor and associated with memory and general cognitive abilities. Multiple transcript variants generated by two alternative promoter usage and alternative splicing have been reported, but the full-length nature and biological validity of some variants have not been defined. These variants encode different isoforms, which are differentially expressed and have different kinase activities.

Uniprot Description

DCAMKL1: a serine-threonine kinase of the CAMK family. May be involved in a calcium-signaling pathway controling neuronal migration in the developing brain. May also participate in functions of the mature nervous system. Genetic and physical interactions with Doublecortin, which causes lissencephaly. A putative marker of quiescent stem cells. Four alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Kinase, protein; Nuclear receptor co-regulator; Protein kinase, CAMK; EC 2.7.11.1; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); CAMK group; DCAMKL family

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 13q13

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein serine/threonine kinase activity; receptor signaling protein activity; ATP binding; protein kinase activity

Biological Process: nervous system development; central nervous system development; axon extension; dendrite morphogenesis; response to virus; forebrain development; neuron migration; central nervous system projection neuron axonogenesis; endosome transport; protein amino acid phosphorylation

Product Notes

The DCLK1 dclk1 (Catalog #AAA3216583) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DCLK1 Antibody - C-terminal region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DCLK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DCLK1 dclk1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: IFIACGPEKF RYQDDFLLDE SECRVVKSTS YTKIASSSRR STTKSPGPSR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DCLK1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
