Related Product Information for anti-TEP1 antibody
Telomerase is a reverse transcriptase that adds telomeric repeats (TTAGGG) to chromosome ends. In normal somatic cells, telomerase is not active and telomeres progressively shorten, leading to limited cell lifespan and senescence. Activation of telomerase is associated with human cancers and cell immortalization. Human telomerase is comprised of three major subnunits: a catalytic subunit (hTERT), a template RNA (hTR), and telomerase-associated protein (TEP-1). Transcription of TERT is the primary mechanism for regulating telomerase activity.

NCBI Description

This gene product is a component of the ribonucleoprotein complex responsible for telomerase activity which catalyzes the addition of new telomeres on the chromosome ends. The telomerase-associated proteins are conserved from ciliates to humans. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

TEP1: Component of the telomerase ribonucleoprotein complex that is essential for the replication of chromosome termini. Also component of the ribonucleoprotein vaults particle, a multi- subunit structure involved in nucleo-cytoplasmic transport. Responsible for the localizing and stabilizing vault RNA (vRNA) association in the vault ribonucleoprotein particle. Binds to TERC. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA repair, damage

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q11.2

Cellular Component: chromosome, telomeric region; nuclear matrix; telomerase holoenzyme complex; cytoplasm; ribonucleoprotein complex

Molecular Function: telomerase activity; RNA binding; ATP binding

Biological Process: RNA-dependent DNA replication; telomere maintenance via recombination

Product Notes

The TEP1 (Catalog #AAA194438) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Telomerase-Associated Protein-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot, Immunohistochemistry. Immunoblotting: Use at 5ug/ml.
Immunohistochemistry: Use at 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TEP1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Telomerase-Associated Protein-1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
