Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Goat
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item specifically recognises an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of human Survivin, otherwise known as TIAP/BIRC5, a novel inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) protein, and component of the chromosomal passenger complex, which plays a key role in the regulation of mitosis.

Survivin is only expressed during the G2-M cell cycle phase, and is predominantly expressed in foetal tissues, and in many human cancers, including adenocarcinomas and high-grade lymphomas. The lack of survivin expression by normal non-malignant cells, makes survivin an important therapeutic target for cancer.

Applicable Applications for anti-BIRC5 antibody
ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 18kDa in MOLT4 cell lysates.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide sequence CVRRAIEQLAAMD from the C-Terminal region of Survivin (NP_001159.2; NP_001012271.1).
Buffer Solution
Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human Survivin (CT) was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) gene family, which encode negative regulatory proteins that prevent apoptotic cell death. IAP family members usually contain multiple baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) domains, but this gene encodes proteins with only a single BIR domain. The encoded proteins also lack a C-terminus RING finger domain. Gene expression is high during fetal development and in most tumors, yet low in adult tissues. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Uniprot Description

Survivin: an apoptosis inhibitor that is expressed during the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. Associates with the microtubules of the mitotic spindle and any disruption results in the loss of apoptosis activity. May play a role in neoplasia. Inhibitor of caspase-3 and caspase-7. Two splice variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The BIRC5 birc5 (Catalog #AAA224113) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's SURVIVIN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 18kDa in MOLT4 cell lysates. ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 1/16000 Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.01; Maximum Dilution: 0.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BIRC5 birc5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SURVIVIN, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
