NCBI Description

Sulfotransferase enzymes catalyze the sulfate conjugation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. These cytosolic enzymes are different in their tissue distributions and substrate specificities. The gene structure (number and length of exons) is similar among family members. This gene encodes a phenol sulfotransferase with thermolabile enzyme activity. Four sulfotransferase genes are located on the p arm of chromosome 16, this gene and SULT1A3 arose from a segmental duplication. Read-through transcription exists between this gene and the upstream SLX1B (SLX1 structure-specific endonuclease subunit homolog B) gene that encodes a protein containing GIY-YIG domains. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]

Uniprot Description

Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the sulfate conjugation of phenolic monoamines (neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin) and phenolic and catechol drugs.CautionFound in a segmental duplication on p arm of chromosome 16 giving rise to two identical copies of this gene sharing exons with SLX1A and SLX1B. The ORFs of SULT1A3 and SULT1A4 differ with only a single nucleotide change that does not alter the encoded amino acid. It is not possible to determine whether any individual polymorphism is present within SULT1A3 or SULT1A4 (PubMed:15358107).

Product Notes

The SULT1A3 sult1a4 (Catalog #AAA9608420) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SULT1A3 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SULT1A3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:1000-3000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SULT1A3 sult1a4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SULT1A3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
