Related Product Information for anti-Protein SSX2 antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Protein SSX2(Protein SSX2) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human.
Background: Synovial sarcoma, X breakpoint 2, also known as SSX2, is a human gene. The product of this gene belongs to the family of highly homologous synovial sarcoma X(SSX) breakpoint proteins. SSX1, SSX2 and SSX4 genes have been involved in the t(X;18) translocation characteristically found in all synovial sarcomas. The SSX1 and SSX2 genes encode closely related proteins(81% identity) of 188 amino acids that are rich in charged amino acids. The N-terminal portion of each SSX protein exhibits homology to the Kruppel-associated box(KRAB), a transcriptional repressor domain previously found only in Kruppel-type zinc finger proteins.

NCBI Description

The product of this gene belongs to the family of highly homologous synovial sarcoma X (SSX) breakpoint proteins. These proteins may function as transcriptional repressors. They are also capable of eliciting spontaneous humoral and cellular immune responses in cancer patients, and are potentially useful targets in cancer vaccine-based immunotherapy. This gene, and also the SSX1 and SSX4 family members, have been involved in t(X;18)(p11.2;q11.2) translocations that are characteristically found in all synovial sarcomas. This translocation results in the fusion of the synovial sarcoma translocation gene on chromosome 18 to one of the SSX genes on chromosome X. The encoded hybrid proteins are likely responsible for transforming activity. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. This gene also has an identical duplicate, GeneID: 6757, located about 45 kb upstream in the opposite orientation on chromosome X. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Uniprot Description

SSX2B: Could act as a modulator of transcription. A chromosomal aberration involving SSX2 may be a cause of synovial sarcoma. Translocation t(X;18)(p11.2;q11.2). The translocation is specifically found in more than 80% of synovial sarcoma. The fusion products SSXT-SSX1 or SSXT-SSX2 are probably responsible for transforming activity. Heterogeneity in the position of the breakpoint can occur (low frequency). Belongs to the SSX family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Protein SSX2 ssx2 (Catalog #AAA175556) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-SSX2 antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SSX2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Protein SSX2 ssx2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SSX2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
