NCBI Description

Spire proteins, such as SPIRE1, are highly conserved between species. They belong to the family of Wiskott-Aldrich homology region-2 (WH2) proteins, which are involved in actin organization (Kerkhoff et al., 2001 [PubMed 11747823]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

Acts as an actin nucleation factor, remains associated with the slow-growing pointed end of the new filament (PubMed:11747823, PubMed:21620703). Involved in intracellular vesicle transport along actin fibers, providing a novel link between actin cytoskeleton dynamics and intracellular transport (PubMed:11747823). Required for asymmetric spindle positioning and asymmetric cell division during meiosis (PubMed:21620703). Required for normal formation of the cleavage furrow and for polar body extrusion during female germ cell meiosis (PubMed:21620703). Also acts in the nucleus: together with FMN2, promotes assembly of nuclear actin filaments in response to DNA damage in order to facilitate movement of chromatin and repair factors after DNA damage (PubMed:26287480).

Product Notes

The SPIRE1 spire1 (Catalog #AAA9430693) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SPIRE1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SPIRE1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:200-1000 IHC: 1:50-300. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SPIRE1 spire1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SPIRE1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
