NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is an integral membrane protein and tetrodotoxin-resistant voltage-gated sodium channel subunit. This protein is found primarily in cardiac muscle and is responsible for the initial upstroke of the action potential in an electrocardiogram. Defects in this gene are a cause of long QT syndrome type 3 (LQT3), an autosomal dominant cardiac disease. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Uniprot Description
SCN5A: an integral membrane protein and a voltage-gated sodium channel subunit. Mediates the voltage-dependent sodium ion permeability of excitable membranes. This protein is found primarily in cardiac muscle and is responsible for the initial upstroke of the action potential in an electrocardiogram. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a sodium-selective channel through which Na(+) ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient. It is a tetrodotoxin-resistant Na(+) channel isoform. Intracellular calcium levels regulate channel inactivation. Interacts with the PDZ domain of the syntrophin SNTA1, SNTB1 and SNTB2. Interacts with NEDD4, NEDD4L, WWP2 and GPD1L. Defects in this protein are a cause of long QT syndrome type 3 (LQT3). Belongs to the sodium channel (TC 1.A.1.10) family, Nav1.5/SCN5A subfamily. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The SCN5A scn5a (Catalog #AAA9405344) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Sodium Channel-pan Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Sodium Channel-pan can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western blotting: 1:500~1:3000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50~1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCN5A scn5a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Sodium Channel-pan, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
