Related Product Information for anti-SMAD1 antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 1(SMAD1) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P, ICC in Human, Mouse, Rat.
Background: Mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 1 also known as SMAD family member 1 or SMAD1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SMAD1 gene. SMAD1 belongs to the SMAD, a family of proteins similar to the gene products of the Drosophila gene "mothers against decapentaplegic"(Mad) and the C. elegans gene Sma. The gene was assigned to human chromosome 4q31.21. SMAD proteins are signal transducers and transcriptional modulators that mediate multiple signaling pathways.

Uniprot Description

SMAD1: transcription factor phosphorylated and activated by bone morphogenetic protein type 1 receptor kinases. Participates in a wide range of critical processes including morphogenesis, cell-fate determination, proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Phosphorylated forms dimerize with collaborating Smad4 and are translocated into the nucleus, where the transcription of target genes is stimulated.

Protein type: Transcription factor; DNA-binding

Cellular Component: transcription factor complex; protein complex; cytoplasm; nuclear inner membrane; intracellular; nucleus

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; DNA binding; protein heterodimerization activity; metal ion binding; transcription factor activity; protein kinase binding

Biological Process: response to drug; transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription, DNA-dependent; MAPKKK cascade; cardiac muscle cell proliferation; protein amino acid phosphorylation; SMAD protein complex assembly; mesodermal cell fate commitment; BMP signaling pathway; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of osteoblast differentiation; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; homeostatic process; cartilage development; transforming growth factor beta receptor signaling pathway; gamete generation; midbrain development; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of cell differentiation; osteoblast fate commitment; hindbrain development

Product Notes

The SMAD1 smad1 (Catalog #AAA176187) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Smad1 antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Smad1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SMAD1 smad1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Smad1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
