Related Product Information for anti-SLC5A1 antibody
Solute Carrier Family 5 Member 1 (Slc5a1/SGLT1) is a member of the sodium dependent glucose transporters also known as co transporters or symporters. It is an integral membrane protein involved in the active transport of glucose and galactose across the membrane of cells lining the gi tract and kidney. Transport is driven by the sodium/potassium ATPase.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the sodium-dependent glucose transporter (SGLT) family. The encoded integral membrane protein is the primary mediator of dietary glucose and galactose uptake from the intestinal lumen. Mutations in this gene have been associated with glucose-galactose malabsorption. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]

Uniprot Description

SLC5A1: Actively transports glucose into cells by Na(+) cotransport with a Na(+) to glucose coupling ratio of 2:1. Efficient substrate transport in mammalian kidney is provided by the concerted action of a low affinity high capacity and a high affinity low capacity Na(+)/glucose cotransporter arranged in series along kidney proximal tubules. Expressed mainly in intestine and kidney. Belongs to the sodium:solute symporter (SSF) (TC 2.A.21) family.

Protein type: Transporter; Transporter, SLC family; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q12.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; brush border membrane; apical plasma membrane; plasma membrane; intercellular junction

Molecular Function: protein binding; glucose:sodium symporter activity

Biological Process: hexose transport; sodium ion transport; carbohydrate metabolic process; pathogenesis; glucose transport; transmembrane transport; metanephros development; intestinal absorption

Disease: Glucose/galactose Malabsorption

Product Notes

The SLC5A1 slc5a1 (Catalog #AAA244290) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Polyclonal to Human SLC5A1 / SGLT1 reacts with Human, Orangutan Predicted Reactivity: Chimpanzee, Gibbon (at least 90% immunogen sequence identity) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SLC5A1 / SGLT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin). IHC-P (5 - 10 ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC5A1 slc5a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SLC5A1 / SGLT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
