NCBI Description

Zinc is an essential cofactor for hundreds of enzymes. It is involved in protein, nucleic acid, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism, as well as in the control of gene transcription, growth, development, and differentiation. SLC39A14 belongs to a subfamily of proteins that show structural characteristics of zinc transporters (Taylor and Nicholson, 2003 [PubMed 12659941]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: May mediate cellular uptake of nontransferrin-bound iron

By similarity. Broad-scope metal ion transporter with a preference for zinc uptake. Ref.7

Subunit structure: Homotrimer. Ref.6

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein

Potential. Cell projection › lamellipodium. Note: Localized to the plasma membrane and also found colocalized with F-actin concentrated on lamellipodiae. Ref.6 Ref.7

Tissue specificity: Ubiquitously expressed, with increased expression in liver, pancreas, fetal liver, thyroid gland, left and right ventricle, right atrium and fetal heart. Weakly expressed in spleen, thymus, and peripheral blood leukocytes. Ref.1 Ref.7

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the ZIP transporter (TC 2.A.5) family. [View classification]

Sequence caution: The sequence BAA06685.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally shortened.

Product Notes

The SLC39A14 slc39a14 (Catalog #AAA645600) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SLC39A14 (KIAA0062, ZIP14, Zinc transporter ZIP14, Solute carrier family 39 member 14) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SLC39A14 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry,. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 5-7.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC39A14 slc39a14 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SLC39A14, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
