Related Product Information for anti-SKIL antibody
SnoN, an 80kD protein, is a member of ski family of nuclear proto-oncogenes involved in regulation of cellular transformation and differentiation. Primarily expressed in two isoforms, SnoN is localized in cytoplasm in normal tissues and non-tumorigenic primary epithelial cells. In cancer tissues or cells, SnoN is exclusively localized in the nucleus. It plays a vital role in inhibition of cell cycle arrest induced by TGF-â. Upon morphological differentiation or cell-cycle arrest, SnoN translocates into the nucleus, binds to Smad2, Smad3, and Smad4 on TGF- -responsive promoters and represses their ability to activate expression of TGF- target genes. It has also been found to mediate transcriptional repression of thyroid hormone receptor, Mad and pRb. Increased expression of SnoN has been detected in many human tumor cell lines suggesting a clinical significance.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the SMAD pathway, which regulates cell growth and differentiation through transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB). In the absence of ligand, the encoded protein binds to the promoter region of TGFB-responsive genes and recruits a nuclear repressor complex. TGFB signaling causes SMAD3 to enter the nucleus and degrade this protein, allowing these genes to be activated. Four transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

Function: May have regulatory role in cell division or differentiation in response to extracellular signals.

Subunit structure: Interacts with SMAD2, SMAD3 and RNF111. Isoform 1 interacts with WWP1. Ref.7 Ref.8

Tissue specificity: Isoform SNON and isoform SNOA are widely expressed. Highest expression is found in skeletal muscle, followed by placenta and lung. Lowest expression in heart, brain and pancreas. Isoform SNOI expression is restricted to skeletal muscle. Ref.6

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the SKI family.

Product Notes

The SKIL skil (Catalog #AAA647606) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Ski-like Protein (Ski-related Oncogene, Ski-related Protein, SNO, SKIL) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Ski-like Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SKIL skil for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Ski-like Protein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
