NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene is one of several genes encoding pulmonary-surfactant associated proteins (SFTPA) located on chromosome 10. Mutations in this gene and a highly similar gene located nearby, which affect the highly conserved carbohydrate recognition domain, are associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The current version of the assembly displays only a single centromeric SFTPA gene pair rather than the two gene pairs shown in the previous assembly which were thought to have resulted from a duplication. Uniprot Description
SFTPA2: In presence of calcium ions, it binds to surfactant phospholipids and contributes to lower the surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the alveoli of the mammalian lung and is essential for normal respiration. Defects in SFTPA2 are a cause of pulmonary fibrosis idiopathic (IPF). Pulmonary fibrosis is a lung disease characterized by shortness of breath, radiographically evident diffuse pulmonary infiltrates, and varying degrees of inflammation and fibrosis on biopsy. It results in acute lung injury with subsequent scarring and endstage lung disease. Belongs to the SFTPA family.

Product Notes
The SFTPA2B sftpa2 (Catalog #AAA6346756) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SFTPA2B, CT (SFTPA2, COLEC5, PSAP, SFTP1, SFTPA, SFTPA2B, Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein A2, 35kD pulmonary surfactant-associated protein, Alveolar proteinosis protein, Collectin-5) (PE) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SFTPA2B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SFTPA2B sftpa2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SFTPA2B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
