Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS)
(Sestrin-1 Antibody (C-term) flow cytometric analysis of NCI-H460 cells (right histogram) compared to a negative control cell (left histogram).FITC-conjugated goat-anti-rabbit secondary antibodies were used for the analysis.)
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the sestrin family. Sestrins are induced by the p53 tumor suppressor protein and play a role in the cellular response to DNA damage and oxidative stress. The encoded protein mediates p53 inhibition of cell growth by activating AMP-activated protein kinase, which results in the inhibition of the mammalian target of rapamycin protein. The encoded protein also plays a critical role in antioxidant defense by regenerating overoxidized peroxiredoxins, and the expression of this gene is a potential marker for exposure to radiation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]
Uniprot Description
SESN1: Involved in the reduction of peroxiredoxins. May also be regulator of cellular growth. Belongs to the sestrin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q21
Cellular Component: nucleus
Biological Process: negative regulation of cell proliferation; regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; cell cycle arrest; response to DNA damage stimulus

Product Notes
The SESN1 (Catalog #AAA625736) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Sestrin-1, CT (Sestrin 1, p53-regulated Protein PA26, SEST1, PA26, SESN1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Sestrin-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC). Western Blot: 1:1000 Flow Cytometry: 1:10-1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SESN1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Sestrin-1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
