Related Product Information for anti-SEPT4 antibody
This gene is a member of the septin family of nucleotide binding proteins, originally described in yeast as cell division cycle regulatory proteins. Septins are highly conserved in yeast, Drosophila, and mouse, and appear to regulate cytoskeletal organization. Disruption of septin function disturbs cytokinesis and results in large multinucleate or polyploid cells. This gene is highly expressed in brain and heart. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. One of the isoforms (known as ARTS) is distinct; it is localized to the mitochondria, and has a role in apoptosis and cancer.

Uniprot Description

SEPT4: Filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase. May play a role in cytokinesis (Potential). May play a role in platelet secretion. Isoform ARTS, but not the other isoforms, is required for the induction of cell death mediated by TGF-beta and by other apoptotic stimuli. Belongs to the septin family. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell development/differentiation; Apoptosis; Hydrolase; Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q22

Cellular Component: cytoskeleton; mitochondrion; nucleus

Molecular Function: GTPase activity; protein binding; GTP binding; structural molecule activity

Biological Process: regulation of apoptosis; sperm mitochondrion organization and biogenesis; cell division; apoptosis; metabolic process; positive regulation of protein ubiquitination; positive regulation of apoptosis; brain development; cell cycle; sperm capacitation

Product Notes

The SEPT4 sept4 (Catalog #AAA9408919) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SEPT4 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SEPT4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SEPT4 sept4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SEPT4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
