Related Product Information for anti-SCD5 antibody
This is a rabbit polyclonal antibody against SCD5. It was validated on Western Blot

Target Description: Stearoyl-CoA desaturase is an integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum that catalyzes the formation of monounsaturated fatty acids from saturated fatty acids. SCD may be a key regulator of energy metabolism with a role in obesity and dislipidemia. Four SCD isoforms, Scd1 through Scd4, have been identified in mouse. In contrast, only 2 SCD isoforms, SCD1 and SCD5, have been identified in human. SCD1 shares about 85% amino acid identity with all 4 mouse SCD isoforms, as well as with rat Scd1 and Scd2. In contrast, SCD5 shares limited homology with the rodent SCDs and appears to be unique to primates.

NCBI Description

Stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD; EC 1.14.99.5) is an integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum that catalyzes the formation of monounsaturated fatty acids from saturated fatty acids. SCD may be a key regulator of energy metabolism with a role in obesity and dislipidemia. Four SCD isoforms, Scd1 through Scd4, have been identified in mouse. In contrast, only 2 SCD isoforms, SCD1 (MIM 604031) and SCD5, have been identified in human. SCD1 shares about 85% amino acid identity with all 4 mouse SCD isoforms, as well as with rat Scd1 and Scd2. In contrast, SCD5 shares limited homology with the rodent SCDs and appears to be unique to primates (Wang et al., 2005 [PubMed 15907797]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

SCD5: Fatty acid delta-9-desaturase that introduces a double bond in fatty acyl-coenzyme A at the delta-9 position. Belongs to the fatty acid desaturase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Oxidoreductase; EC 1.14.19.1; Lipid Metabolism - unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q21.22

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: iron ion binding; stearoyl-CoA 9-desaturase activity

Biological Process: fatty acid biosynthetic process

Product Notes

The SCD5 scd5 (Catalog #AAA3216633) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SCD5 antibody - C-terminal region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Pig, Rabbit, Rat, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SCD5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCD5 scd5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: DYSASEFGLN FNPTTWFIDF MCWLGLATDR KRATKPMIEA RKARTGDSSA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCD5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
