Related Product Information for anti-SCARF2 antibody
Background: scavenger receptor class F member 2(SCARF2) Homo sapiens. The protein encoded by this gene is similar to SCARF1/SREC-I, a scavenger receptor protein that mediates the binding and degradation of acetylated low density lipoprotein (Ac-LDL). This protein has only little activity of internalizing modified low density lipoproteins (LDL), but it can interact with SCARF1 through its extracellular domain. The association of this protein with SCARF1 is suppressed by the presence of scavenger ligands. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. NCBI Description

This protein has only little activity of internalizing modified low density lipoproteins (LDL), but it can interact with SCARF1 through its extracellular domain. Uniprot Description

SREC-II: Probable adhesion protein, which mediates homophilic and heterophilic interactions. In contrast to SCARF1, it poorly mediates the binding and degradation of acetylated low density lipoprotein (Ac-LDL). Defects in SCARF2 are the cause of Van den Ende-Gupta syndrome (VDEGS). A syndrome characterized by craniofacial and skeletal abnormalities that include blepharophimosis, a flat and wide nasal bridge, narrow and beaked nose, hypoplastic maxilla with or without cleft palate and everted lower lip, prominent ears, down-slanting eyes, arachnodactyly, and camptodactyly. Patients present congenital joint contractures that improve without intervention, and normal growth and development. Intelligence is normal. Rarely, enlarged cerebella can be present. Some patients experience respiratory problems due to laryngeal abnormalities. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q11.21

Cellular Component: focal adhesion; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; scavenger receptor activity

Biological Process: heterophilic cell adhesion; receptor-mediated endocytosis

Disease: Van Den Ende-gupta Syndrome

Product Notes

The SCARF2 scarf2 (Catalog #AAA3000772) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SCARF2 polyclonal antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SCARF2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunofluorescence (IF)(paraffin section), ELISA (EIA). IHC: 1/100-1/300 ELISA: 1/40,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCARF2 scarf2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCARF2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
