Uniprot Description

SCARA5: Ferritin receptor that mediates non-transferrin- dependent delivery of iron. Mediates cellular uptake of ferritin- bound iron by stimulating ferritin endocytosis from the cell surface with consequent iron delivery within the cell. Delivery of iron to cells by ferritin is required for the development of specific cell types, suggesting the existence of cell type- specific mechanisms of iron traffic in organogenesis, which alternatively utilize transferrin or non-transferrin iron delivery pathways. Ferritin mediates iron uptake in capsule cells of the developing kidney. Binds preferrentially ferritin light chain (FTL) compared to heavy chain (FTH1). Belongs to the SCARA5 family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p21.1

Cellular Component: cell surface; integral to plasma membrane

Product Notes

The SCARA5 scara5 (Catalog #AAA7603856) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SCARA5 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SCARA5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCARA5 scara5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCARA5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
