AMSN1 (SAM Domain, SH3 Domain, And Nuclear Localization Signals 1) is a Protein Coding gene. The SAMSN1 gene, located on 21q11.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and frog. This gene is overexpressed in Urine, Peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and B lymphocytes. SAMSN1 is a member of a novel gene family of putative adaptors and scaffold proteins containing SH3 and SAM (sterile alpha motif) domains. The protein SAMSN1 was identified as a putative tumor suppressor in multiple myeloma, with re-expression of Samsn1 in the 5TGM1/KaLwRij murine model of myeloma leading to a near-complete abrogation of intramedullary tumor growth. 202 organisms have orthologs with the human gene SAMSN1.
