NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
regulates neuronal cell migration during development; plays a role in locomotor behavior [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
reelin: Extracellular matrix serine protease that plays a role in layering of neurons in the cerebral cortex and cerebellum. Regulates microtubule function in neurons and neuronal migration. Affects migration of sympathetic preganglionic neurons in the spinal cord, where it seems to act as a barrier to neuronal migration. Enzymatic activity is important for the modulation of cell adhesion. Binding to the extracellular domains of lipoprotein receptors VLDLR and LRP8/APOER2 induces tyrosine phosphorylation of DAB1 and modulation of TAU phosphorylation. Defects in RELN are the cause of lissencephaly type 2 (LIS2); also known as lissencephaly with cerebellar hypoplasia or Norman-Roberts syndrome. LIS2 is a classic type lissencephaly associated with abnormalities of the cerebellum, hippocampus and brainstem. Individuals with LIS2 are severely ataxic, mentally retarded and suffer from epilepsy. Belongs to the reelin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The RL reln (Catalog #AAA2004365) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Reelin (RL) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Reelin (RL) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) - Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western blotting: 1:100-400 Immunocytochemistry in formalin fixed cells: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in paraffin section: 1:50-200 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RL reln for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Reelin (RL), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
