Related Product Information for anti-RBBP8 antibody
RBBP8 Antibody: RBBP8, also known as CtBP (carboxy-terminal binding protein) interacting protein (CTIP), was characterized for its role in transcription as a cofactor for the transcriptional repressor CtBP, and also as a binding partner for other proteins including the cell cycle regulators retinoblastoma protein (Rb) and breast cancer 1 (BRCA1). It is ubiquitously expressed and localizes to the nucleus. RBBP8 is thought to modulate the functions in cell proliferation, transcriptional regulation and DNA repair. RBBP8 also plays a central role in the cell cycle checkpoint response to DNA double-stranded breaks (DSBs), with new evidence demonstrating that it controls the choice of DSB repair pathway.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein. It is found among several proteins that bind directly to retinoblastoma protein, which regulates cell proliferation. This protein complexes with transcriptional co-repressor CTBP. It is also associated with BRCA1 and is thought to modulate the functions of BRCA1 in transcriptional regulation, DNA repair, and/or cell cycle checkpoint control. It is suggested that this gene may itself be a tumor suppressor acting in the same pathway as BRCA1. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. More transcript variants exist, but their full-length natures have not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CtIP: a transcription factor containing C2H2 zinc fingers. May modulate the functions ascribed to BRCA1 in transcriptional regulation, DNA repair, and/or cell cycle checkpoint control. Interacts with CTBP, with the C-terminal (BRCT) domains of BRCA1, and with the retinoblastoma protein. Abundantly expressed in brain and the immune system and associated with immune system malignancies. Ionizing radiation induces its hyperphosphorylation and dissociation from BRCA1 in an ATM-dependent manner.

Product Notes

The RBBP8 rbbp8 (Catalog #AAA151483) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RBBP8 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RBBP8 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). RBBP8 antibody can be used for detection of RBBP8 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RBBP8 rbbp8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RBBP8, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
