NCBI Description

The transport of protein and large RNAs through the nuclear pore complexes (NPC) is an energy-dependent and regulated process. The import of proteins with a nuclear localization signal (NLS) is accomplished by recognition of one or more clusters of basic amino acids by the importin-alpha/beta complex; see MIM 600685 and MIM 602738. The small GTPase RAN (MIM 601179) plays a key role in NLS-dependent protein import. RAN-binding protein-16 is a member of the importin-beta superfamily of nuclear transport receptors.[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2002]

Uniprot Description

Exportin-7: Mediates the nuclear export of proteins (cargos) with broad substrate specificity. In the nucleus binds cooperatively to its cargo and to the GTPase Ran in its active GTP-bound form. Docking of this trimeric complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) is mediated through binding to nucleoporins. Upon transit of a nuclear export complex into the cytoplasm, disassembling of the complex and hydrolysis of Ran-GTP to Ran-GDP (induced by RANBP1 and RANGAP1, respectively) cause release of the cargo from the export receptor. XPO7 then return to the nuclear compartment and mediate another round of transport. The directionality of nuclear export is thought to be conferred by an asymmetric distribution of the GTP- and GDP-bound forms of Ran between the cytoplasm and nucleus. Belongs to the exportin family.

Protein type: Nuclear export; Karyopherin; Nuclear import

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p21

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nuclear pore; nucleus

Product Notes

The XPO7 xpo7 (Catalog #AAA420609) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-RANBP16/Exportin 7 Antibody reacts with Tested: Human; Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Dog, Pig, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RANBP16/Exportin 7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 32000. Western Blot: Approx 110kDa band observed in Human Testis and Hela lysates (predicted size of approx.124kDa according to NP_055839). Recommended for use at 0.5-1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the XPO7 xpo7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: NSTYGVNSND MMS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RANBP16/Exportin 7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
