NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the largest group in the Ras superfamily of small GTPases, which regulate membrane trafficking. The encoded protein is associated with early endosomes and is involved in their sorting and recycling. The protein also plays a role in regulating the recycling of receptors from endosomes to the plasma membrane. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2012]

Uniprot Description

Rab4: a member of the RAB family of RAS-related GTP-binding proteins, important regulators of vesicular transport and are located in specific intracellular compartments. RAB7 has been localized to late endosomes and shown to be important in the late endocytic pathway. In addition, it has been shown to have a fundamental role in the cellular vacuolation induced by the cytotoxin VacA of Helicobacter pylori. Mutations in this protein cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 2B neuropathy.

Protein type: G protein; G protein, monomeric; G protein, monomeric, Rab

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q42-q43

Cellular Component: membrane; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; endosome; vesicle

Molecular Function: GTPase activity; protein binding; GDP binding; GTP binding; protein transporter activity

Product Notes

The RAB4A rab4a (Catalog #AAA9612049) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rab4 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat Predicted Reactivity: Pig(100%), Zebrafish(100%), Bovine(100%), Horse(100%), Sheep(100%), Rabbit(100%), Dog(100%), Chicken(100%) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Rab4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IF: 1:100-1:500 ICC: 1:100-1:500 IHC: 1:50-1:200 ELISA(peptide): 1:20,000-1:40,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RAB4A rab4a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Rab4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
