NCBI Description

may be involved in phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3-K) mediated signaling [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Akt2: an AGC kinase. Plays critical roles in glucose metabolism and the development or maintenance of proper adipose tissue and islet mass for which other Akt/PKB isoforms are unable to fully compensate. Amplified and overexpressed in human ovarian carcinoma cell lines and amplified in some primary ovarian and pancreatic tumors. Antisense blocks invasiveness in xenografts. Expressed in several insulin-responsive tissues, and one case of Type II diabetes has been associated with a likely LOF point mutation. Mouse mutants have defects in insulin response.

Protein type: AGC group; AKT family; EC 2.7.11.1; Kinase, protein; Oncoprotein; Protein kinase, AGC; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor)

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21

Cellular Component: cell cortex; cytosol; intracellular membrane-bound organelle; nucleoplasm; nucleus; plasma membrane; vesicle

Product Notes

The PKBb akt2 (Catalog #AAA2058247) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The FITC-Linked Polyclonal Antibody to Protein Kinase B Beta (PKBb) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Protein Kinase B Beta (PKBb) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (ELISA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PKBb akt2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Protein Kinase B Beta (PKBb), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
