NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the disulfide isomerase (PDI) family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins that catalyze protein folding and thiol-disulfide interchange reactions. The encoded protein has an N-terminal ER-signal sequence, two catalytically active thioredoxin (TRX) domains, two TRX-like domains and a C-terminal ER-retention sequence. The protein plays a role in the folding of nascent proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum by forming disulfide bonds through its thiol isomerase, oxidase, and reductase activity. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2016]

Uniprot Description

PDIA2: Acts as an intracellular estrogen-binding protein. May be involved in modulating cellular levels and biological functions of estrogens in the pancreas. May act as a chaperone that inhibits aggregation of misfolded proteins. Belongs to the protein disulfide isomerase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 5.3.4.1; Endoplasmic reticulum; Isomerase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p13.3

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum

Molecular Function: disulfide oxidoreductase activity; peptidyl-proline 4-dioxygenase activity; protein binding

Biological Process: protein folding; protein retention in ER

Product Notes

The PDIA2 pdia2 (Catalog #AAA2055935) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The FITC-Linked Polyclonal Antibody to Protein Disulfide Isomerase A2 (PDIA2) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Protein Disulfide Isomerase A2 (PDIA2) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (ELISA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PDIA2 pdia2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Protein Disulfide Isomerase A2 (PDIA2), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
