NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a death effector domain-containing protein that functions as a negative regulator of apoptosis. The encoded protein is an endogenous substrate for protein kinase C. This protein is also overexpressed in type 2 diabetes mellitus, where it may contribute to insulin resistance in glucose uptake. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]
Uniprot Description
PEA-15: an ubiquitously expressed anti-apoptotic protein. Inhibits both Fas- and Tnfrsf1a/Tnfr1-mediated caspase-8 activity and apoptosis. Interacts with CASP8/FLICE and FADD. Regulates glucose transport by controlling both the content of GLUT1 glucose transporters on the plasma membrane and the insulin-dependent trafficking of GLUT4 from the cell interior to the surface. Most abundant in tissues such as heart, brain, muscle and adipose tissue which utilize glucose as an energy source. Lower expression in glucose-producing tissues. Higher levels of expression are found in tissues from individuals with type 2 diabetes than in controls.
Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Apoptosis
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21.1
Cellular Component: microtubule associated complex; cytoplasm
Molecular Function: protein binding
Biological Process: negative regulation of glucose import; transport; apoptosis; carbohydrate transport; DNA damage checkpoint; response to morphine

Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, ELISA, Western Blot andImmunohistochemistry. Dilution: Immunofluorescence: 1:100-1:500 ELISA: 1:40,000 Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 10ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PED/PEA-15 pea15 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PED/PEA-15, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
