NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene interacts with poly(A)-binding protein and with the cap-binding complex eIF4A. It is involved in translational initiation and protein biosynthesis. Overexpression of this gene in COS7 cells stimulates translation. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and three transcript variants encoding three distinct isoforms have been identified. Uniprot Description
PAIP1: Acts as a coactivator in the regulation of translation initiation of poly(A)-containing mRNAs. Its stimulatory activity on translation is mediated via its action on PABPC1. Competes with PAIP2 for binding to PABPC1. Its association with EIF4A and PABPC1 may potentiate contacts between mRNA termini. May also be involved in translationally coupled mRNA turnover. Implicated with other RNA-binding proteins in the cytoplasmic deadenylation/translational and decay interplay of the FOS mRNA mediated by the major coding-region determinant of instability (mCRD) domain. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Translation
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p12
Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol
Molecular Function: protein binding; translation activator activity; RNA binding
Biological Process: poly(A) tail shortening; positive regulation of translation; mRNA stabilization; translational initiation; gene expression; mRNA catabolic process, deadenylation-dependent decay

Product Notes
The PAIP1 paip1 (Catalog #AAA9207287) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 23-49. The PAIP1 Antibody (N-term) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PAIP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PAIP1 paip1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PAIP1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
