Rabbit anti-Human PAF Acetylhydrolase Polyclonal Antibody | anti-PLA2G7 antibody
PAF Acetylhydrolase Antibody
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted enzyme that catalyzes the degradation of platelet-activating factor to biologically inactive products. Defects in this gene are a cause of platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase deficiency. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009]
Uniprot Description
Function: Modulates the action of platelet-activating factor (PAF) by hydrolyzing the sn-2 ester bond to yield the biologically inactive lyso-PAF. Has a specificity for substrates with a short residue at the sn-2 position. It is inactive against long-chain phospholipids.
Catalytic activity: 1-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine + H2O = 1-alkyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine + acetate.
Subcellular location: Secreted › extracellular space.
Tissue specificity: Plasma.
Involvement in disease: Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase deficiency (PAFAD) [MIM:614278]: An enzymatic deficiency that results in exacerbated bodily response to inflammatory agents. It can be associated with several disease states including inflammatory gastrointestinal disorders, asthma and atopy. Asthmatic individuals with PAFAD may manifest aggravated respiratory symptoms.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.10 Ref.11 Ref.12 Ref.13 Ref.14Asthma (ASTHMA) [MIM:600807]: The most common chronic disease affecting children and young adults. It is a complex genetic disorder with a heterogeneous phenotype, largely attributed to the interactions among many genes and between these genes and the environment. It is characterized by recurrent attacks of paroxysmal dyspnea, with wheezing due to spasmodic contraction of the bronchi.Note: Disease susceptibility is associated with variations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.15Atopic hypersensitivity (ATOPY) [MIM:147050]: A condition characterized by predisposition to develop hypersensitivity reactions. Atopic individuals can develop eczema, allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma.Note: Disease susceptibility is associated with variations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.15
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. Lipase family.

Product Notes
The PLA2G7 pla2g7 (Catalog #AAA415657) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PAF Acetylhydrolase Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PAF Acetylhydrolase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLA2G7 pla2g7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PAF Acetylhydrolase, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
