Biological Significance
Human 62 kDa (p62) protein, is present in intracytoplasmic inclusions (e.g. hyaline bodies) of hepatocellular carcinoma. p62 protein (also described as ubiqutin-binding protein; sequestosome 1; SQSTM1) has been found in many tissues and cells, including lymphoid cells, serving probably a common cellular signal transduction mechanism (e.g. ubiquitin-associated degradation and autophagy).
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Immunogen
p62 antibody was raised in guinea pig using the C-terminal domain of human p62 protein as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the K homology domain-containing, RNA-binding, signal transduction-associated protein family. The encoded protein appears to have many functions and may be involved in a variety of cellular processes, including alternative splicing, cell cycle regulation, RNA 3'-end formation, tumorigenesis, and regulation of human immunodeficiency virus gene expression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2012]

Uniprot Description

KHDRBS1: a nuclear RNA-binding protein. May be involved in slicing and mRNA transport. Associates with src in mitosis. Binds to RNA via a heteronuclear ribonucleoprotein K homology domain. Exerts functionally separable effects on cell proliferation and survival, dependent on its ability to bind specifically to RNA.

Protein type: RNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p32

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; membrane; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; SH3/SH2 adaptor activity; DNA binding; RNA binding; protein complex binding; poly(U) binding; SH3 domain binding; poly(A) binding

Biological Process: transcription, DNA-dependent; positive regulation of signal transduction; positive regulation of RNA export from nucleus; regulation of protein stability; signal transduction; positive regulation of translational initiation; cell proliferation; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; regulation of RNA export from nucleus; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; cell cycle arrest; G2/M transition of mitotic cell cycle; mRNA processing

Product Notes

The p62 khdrbs1 (Catalog #AAA534463) is an Antibody produced from Guinea Pig and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The p62 antibody (C-terminal) reacts with Human p62 and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's p62 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). IHC-F: 1:100-1:200 IHC-P: 1:100-1:200 WB: 1:1,000-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the p62 khdrbs1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "p62, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
