NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Oxysterol binding protein is an intracellular protein that is believed to transport sterols from lysosomes to the nucleus where the sterol down-regulates the genes for the LDL receptor, HMG-CoA reductase, and HMG synthetase [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
OSBP: Binds cholesterol and a range of oxysterols. Cholesterol binding promotes the formation of a complex with PP2A and a tyrosine phosphatase which dephosphorylate ERK1/2, whereas 25- hydroxycholesterol causes its disassembly. Regulates cholesterol efflux by decreasing ABCA1 stability. Belongs to the OSBP family.
Protein type: Lipid-binding
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q12-q13
Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; nucleoplasm; Golgi apparatus; cytoplasm; nucleolus; nucleus; cell junction
Molecular Function: protein domain specific binding; protein binding; oxysterol binding
Biological Process: lipid transport

Product Notes
The OSBP osbp (Catalog #AAA3009386) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The OSBP Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's OSBP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:200-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OSBP osbp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OSBP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
