Related Product Information for anti-NFKB1 antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Nuclear factor NF-kappa-B p105 subunit(NFKB1) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human;Rat.
Background: Nuclear factor NF-kappa-B p105 subunit, also called EBP-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NFKB1 gene. By fluorescence in situ hybridization, the gene was assigned to human chromosome 4q24. NFKB1 is a pleiotropic transcription factor present in almost all cell types and is the endpoint of a series of signal transduction events that are initiated by a vast array of stimuli related to many biological processes such as inflammation, immunity, differentiation, cell growth, tumorigenesis and apoptosis. NFKB1 appears to have dual functions such as cytoplasmic retention of attached NFKB1 proteins by p105 and generation of p50 by a cotranslational processing.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a 105 kD protein which can undergo cotranslational processing by the 26S proteasome to produce a 50 kD protein. The 105 kD protein is a Rel protein-specific transcription inhibitor and the 50 kD protein is a DNA binding subunit of the NF-kappa-B (NFKB) protein complex. NFKB is a transcription regulator that is activated by various intra- and extra-cellular stimuli such as cytokines, oxidant-free radicals, ultraviolet irradiation, and bacterial or viral products. Activated NFKB translocates into the nucleus and stimulates the expression of genes involved in a wide variety of biological functions. Inappropriate activation of NFKB has been associated with a number of inflammatory diseases while persistent inhibition of NFKB leads to inappropriate immune cell development or delayed cell growth. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

NFkB-p105: a transcription factor of the nuclear factor-kappaB ( NFkB) group. Undergoes cotranslational processing by the 26S proteasome to produce a 50 kD protein. The 105 kD protein is a Rel protein-specific transcription inhibitor and the 50 kD protein is a DNA binding subunit of NFkB. There are five NFkB proteins in mammals (RelA/NFkB-p65, RelB, c-Rel, NF-_B1/NFkB-p105, and NF-_B2/NFkB-p100). They form a variety of homodimers and heterodimers, each of which activates its own characteristic set of genes. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

The Anti-NFkB p105/P50 Antibody reacts with Human, Rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Nuclear factor NF-kappa-B p105 subunit can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC-P). Western Blot: Concentration: 0.1-0.5mug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Rat Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Section): Concentration: 0.5-1mug/ml; Tested Species: Human. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NFKB1 nfkb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Nuclear factor NF-kappa-B p105 subunit, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
