Subunit Structure
Component of the MSL histone acetyltransferase complex at least composed of the KAT8/MOF, MSL1/hampin, MSL2 and MSL3. Interacts (via the MRG domain) with MSL1 and KAT8/MOF.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in many tissues including liver, pancreas, heart, lung, kidney, skeletal muscle, brain, and placenta, with highest expression in skeletal muscle and heart.
Function
Has a role in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. Has a role in X inactivation. Component of the MSL complex which is responsible for the majority of histone H4 acetylation at 'Lys-16' which is implicated in the formation of higher-order chromatin structure. Specifically recognizes histone H4 monomethylated at 'Lys-20' (H4K20Me1) in a DNA-dependent manner and is proposed to be involved in chromosomal targeting of the MSL complex.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a nuclear protein that is similar to the product of the Drosophila male-specific lethal-3 gene. The Drosophila protein plays a critical role in a dosage-compensation pathway, which equalizes X-linked gene expression in males and females. Thus, the human protein is thought to play a similar function in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation, and it has been found as part of a complex that is responsible for histone H4 lysine-16 acetylation. This gene can undergo X inactivation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 2, 7 and 8. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

MSL3L1: May be involved in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. May have a role in X inactivation. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xp22.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; transcription factor activity; methylated histone residue binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; establishment and/or maintenance of chromatin architecture; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; multicellular organismal development

Product Notes

The MSL3 msl3 (Catalog #AAA9630609) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MSL3 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MSL3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA)(peptide). ELISA(peptide): 1:20000-1:40000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MSL3 msl3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MSL3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
