Function: Binds DNA as a heterodimer with MLX and activates transcription. Binds to the canonical E box sequence 5'-CACGTG-3'. Plays a role in transcriptional activation of glycolytic target genes. Involved in glucose-responsive gene regulation.
Subunit Structure: Efficient DNA binding requires dimerization with another bHLH protein. Binds DNA as a homodimer or a heterodimer with MLX.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that functions as part of a heterodimer to activate transcription. The encoded protein forms a heterodimer with Max-like protein X (MLX) and is involved in the regulation of genes in response to cellular glucose levels. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]

Uniprot Description

Binds DNA as a heterodimer with MLX and activates transcription. Binds to the canonical E box sequence 5'-CACGTG-3'. Plays a role in transcriptional activation of glycolytic target genes. Involved in glucose-responsive gene regulation.

Product Notes

The MLXIP mlxip (Catalog #AAA9603524) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MLXIP Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MLXIP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MLXIP mlxip for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MLXIP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
