NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a metabotropic glutamate receptor that functions by activating phospholipase C. L-glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. Glutamatergic neurotransmission is involved in most aspects of normal brain function and can be perturbed in many neuropathologic conditions. The canonical alpha isoform of the encoded protein is a disulfide-linked homodimer whose activity is mediated by a G-protein-coupled phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. This gene may be associated with many disease states, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and breast cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]
Uniprot Description
mGluR1: Receptor for glutamate. The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G-protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol- calcium second messenger system. May participate in the central action of glutamate in the CNS, such as long-term potentiation in the hippocampus and long-term depression in the cerebellum. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. The PPXXF motif binds HOMER1, HOMER2 and HOMER3. Interacts with SIAH1, RYR1, RYR2, ITPR1, SHANK1, SHANK3 and GRASP. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 3 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The GRM1 grm1 (Catalog #AAA615261) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The mGluR1a (Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 1 alpha, mGluR1alpha, G Protein Coupled Receptor Family C Group 1 Member A, GPRC1A, Glutamate Receptor Metabotropic 1 alpha, GRM1A, Human Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 1 alpha mRNA Complete cds) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's mGluR1a can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:50. Incubate for 10 minutes at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate, pH 6.0 for 10 minutes followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GRM1 grm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "mGluR1a, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
