Related Product Information for anti-MEP1B antibody
MEP1B (Meprin A Subunit Beta) is a Protein Coding gene. This gene encodes the beta subunit. Targeted disruption of this gene in mice affects embryonic viability, renal gene expression profiles, and distribution of the membrane-associated alpha subunit in the kidney and intestine. Meprins are cell membrane, oligomeric metalloendopeptidases composed of two distinct but evolutionarily related subunits, alpha, and beta. MEP1A is mapped to the short arm of chromosome 6 by the use of radiation and somatic cell hybrids. More specifically, it is localized between the centromere and GSTA2 in 6p11-p12. MEP1B mapped to chromosome 18, by the use of somatic cell hybrids, in 18q12.2-q12.3, proximal to the TTR/PALB gene. Diseases associated with MEP1B include Powassan Encephalitis and Deafness, Autosomal Dominant 31.

NCBI Description

Meprins are multidomain zinc metalloproteases that are highly expressed in mammalian kidney and intestinal brush border membranes, and in leukocytes and certain cancer cells. They are involved in the hydrolysis of a variety of peptide and protein substrates, and have been implicated in cancer and intestinal inflammation. Mature meprins are oligomers of evolutionarily related, but separately encoded alpha and/or beta subunits. Homooligomers of alpha subunit are secreted, whereas, oligomers containing the beta subunit are plasma membrane-bound. This gene encodes the beta subunit. Targeted disruption of this gene in mice affects embryonic viability, renal gene expression profiles, and distribution of the membrane-associated alpha subunit in kidney and intestine. Uniprot Description

Membrane metallopeptidase that sheds many membrane-bound proteins. Exhibits a strong preference for acidic amino acids at the P1' position. Known substrates include: FGF19, VGFA, IL1B, IL18, procollagen I and III, E-cadherin, KLK7, gastrin, ADAM10, tenascin-C. The presence of several pro-inflammatory cytokine among substrates implicate MEP1B in inflammation. It is also involved in tissue remodeling due to its capability to degrade extracellular matrix components.

Product Notes

The MEP1B mep1b (Catalog #AAA8102059) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Meprin beta Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Meprin beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MEP1B mep1b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Meprin beta, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
