Related Product Information for anti-LGI1 antibody
The leucine-rich, glioma inactivated gene 1 (LGI1) was first identified as a candidate tumor suppressor gene for glioma and may play a role in other cancers. LGI1 is a member of a family of highly related proteins containing leucine-rich repeats (LRRs) which are highly similar to other transmembrane signaling molecules and receptors. LGI1 serves as a ligand to ADAM22, a metalloprotease localized at the synapse. Mutations in LGI1 account for nearly half of autodominant lateral temporal epilepsy (ADTLE), an epileptic syndrome characterized by focal seizures with predominant auditory symptoms. Two isoforms of LGI1 are known to exist, but the top band seen in the western blot is likely to be non-specific. This LGI1 antibody is predicted to be specific to LGI1 and not recognize other LGI proteins.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the secreted leucine-rich repeat (LRR) superfamily and shares homology with members of the SLIT protein family. The encoded protein may regulate the activity of voltage-gated potassium channels and may be involved in neuronal growth regulation and cell survival. This gene is rearranged as a result of translocations in glioblastoma cell lines, and it is frequently down-regulated or rearranged in malignant gliomas. Mutations in this gene result in autosomal dominant lateral temporal epilepsy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2015]

Uniprot Description

LGI1: Regulates voltage-gated potassium channels assembled from KCNA1, KCNA4 and KCNAB1. It slows down channel inactivation by precluding channel closure mediated by the KCNAB1 subunit. Ligand for ADAM22 that positively regulates synaptic transmission mediated by AMPA-type glutamate receptors. Plays a role in suppressing the production of MMP1/3 through the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/ERK pathway. May play a role in the control of neuroblastoma cell survival. Defects in LGI1 are the cause of epilepsy, familial temporal lobe, type 1 (ETL1). A focal form of epilepsy characterized by recurrent seizures that arise from foci within the temporal lobe. Seizures are usually accompanied by sensory symptoms, most often auditory in nature. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The LGI1 lgi1 (Catalog #AAA9408580) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The LGI1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LGI1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LGI1 lgi1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LGI1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
