Related Product Information for anti-KVbeta.3 antibody
Voltage-gated K+ channels in the plasma membrane control the repolarization and the frequency of action potentials in neurons, muscles and other excitable cells. The KV gene family encodes more than 30 proteins that comprise the subunits of the K+ channels, and they vary in their gating and permeation properties, subcellular distribution and expression patterns. Functional KV channels assemble as tetramers consisting of pore-forming alpha subunits (KV), which include the KV1, KV2, KV3 and KV4 proteins, and accessory or KV-subunits that modify the gating properties of the coexpressed KV subunits. KVbeta.3 is an accessory K+ channel protein which regulates the activity of the pore-forming alpha subunit and alters the functional properties of Kv1.5. KVbeta.3 localizes to the cytoplasm and is expressed in the brain, with highest expression detected in the cerebellum, and weakest expression seen in the frontal and temporal lobes. No KVbeta.3 expression is detected in the heart, spinal cord, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, placenta or skeletal muscle.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shaker-related subfamily. The encoded protein is one of the beta subunits, which are auxiliary proteins associating with functional Kv-alpha subunits. The encoded protein forms a heterodimer with the potassium voltage-gated channel, shaker-related subfamily, member 5 gene product and regulates the activity of the alpha subunit. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]

Uniprot Description

KCNAB3: Accessory potassium channel protein which modulates the activity of the pore-forming alpha subunit. Alters the functional properties of Kv1.5. Belongs to the shaker potassium channel beta subunit family.

Protein type: Channel, potassium

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.1

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: voltage-gated potassium channel activity; potassium channel regulator activity

Biological Process: synaptic transmission; potassium ion transport

Product Notes

The KVbeta.3 kcnab3 (Catalog #AAA3005954) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KVbeta.3 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KVbeta.3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:1000 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KVbeta.3 kcnab3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KVbeta.3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
