Related Product Information for anti-KCNU1 antibody
This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel family of proteins. The encoded voltage-gated ion channel allows the outward flow of potassium ions during plasma membrane hyperpolarization in sperm. Opening of this channel may be regulated by calcium ion levels. Homozygous knockout mice that lack the related mouse gene exhibit male sterility. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel family of proteins. The encoded voltage-gated ion channel allows the outward flow of potassium ions during plasma membrane hyperpolarization in sperm. Opening of this channel may be regulated by calcium ion levels. Homozygous knockout mice that lack the related mouse gene exhibit male sterility. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Uniprot Description

KCNU1: Testis-specific potassium channel activated by both intracellular pH and membrane voltage that mediates export of K(+). May be involved in sperm capacitation and/or the acrosome reaction, essential steps in fertilization where changes in both intracellular pH and membrane potential are known to occur. In contrast to KCNMA1/SLO1, it is not activated by Ca(2+) or Mg(2+). Belongs to the potassium channel family. Calcium- activated (TC 1.A.1.3) subfamily. KCa5.1/KCNU1 sub-subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p11.23

Cellular Component: plasma membrane; voltage-gated potassium channel complex

Molecular Function: large conductance calcium-activated potassium channel activity; potassium channel activity; voltage-gated potassium channel activity

Biological Process: sperm-egg recognition

Product Notes

The KCNU1 kcnu1 (Catalog #AAA2561988) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KCNU1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KCNU1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA). IHC: 1:25-1:100 ELISA: 1:5000-1:10000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNU1 kcnu1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KCNU1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
