Related Product Information for anti-Kcnmb2 antibody
MaxiK channels are large conductance, voltage and calcium-sensitive potassium channels which are fundamental to the control of smooth muscle tone and neuronal excitability. MaxiK channels can be formed by 2 subunits: the pore-forming alpha subunit and the modulatory beta subunit. The protein encoded by this gene is an auxiliary beta subunit which decreases the activation time of MaxiK alpha subunit currents. Two variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq].

NCBI Description

a Ca(2+)-activated K(+) (BK) channel responsible for the large K(+) conductance in inner hair cells [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Function: Regulatory subunit of the calcium activated potassium KCNMA1 (maxiK) channel. Modulates the calcium sensitivity and gating kinetics of KCNMA1, thereby contributing to KCNMA1 channel diversity. Acts as a negative regulator that confers rapid and complete inactivation of KCNMA1 channel complex

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Interacts with KCNMA1 tetramer. There are probably 4 molecules of KCMNB2 per KCNMA1 tetramer

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein

By similarity.

Tissue specificity: Highly expressed in brain and heart. Also expressed in lung. Ref.3

Domain: The ball and chain domain mediates the inactivation of KCNMA1. It occludes the conduction pathway of KCNMA1 channels, and comprises the pore-blocking ball domain (residues 1-17) and the chain domain (residues 20-45) linking it to the transmembrane segment. The ball domain is made up of a flexible N-terminus anchored at a well ordered loop-helix motif. The chain domain consists of a 4-turn helix with an unfolded linker at its C-terminus

By similarity.

Post-translational modification: N-glycosylated

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the KCNMB (TC 8.A.14.1) family. KCNMB2 subfamily. [View classification]

Product Notes

The Kcnmb2 kcnmb2 (Catalog #AAA6012372) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KCNMB2, NT (KCNMB2, Calcium-activated potassium channel subunit beta-2, BK channel subunit beta-2, Calcium-activated potassium channel, subfamily M subunit beta-2, Charybdotoxin receptor subunit beta-2, Hbeta3, K(VCA)beta-2, Maxi K channel subunit beta-2, reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KCNMB2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Kcnmb2 kcnmb2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KCNMB2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
