NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a zinc finger protein that contains a jumonji domain and may play a role in hormone-dependent transcriptional activation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009]
Uniprot Description
JMJD1A: Histone demethylase that specifically demethylates 'Lys- 9' of histone H3, thereby playing a central role in histone code. Preferentially demethylates mono- and dimethylated H3 'Lys-9' residue, with a preference for dimethylated residue, while it has weak or no activity on trimethylated H3 'Lys-9'. Demethylation of Lys residue generates formaldehyde and succinate. Involved in hormone-dependent transcriptional activation, by participating in recruitment to androgen-receptor target genes, resulting in H3 'Lys-9' demethylation and transcriptional activation. Involved in spermatogenesis by regulating expression of target genes such as PRM1 and TMP1 which are required for packaging and condensation of sperm chromatin. Involved in obesity resistance through regulation of metabolic genes such as PPARA and UCP1. Belongs to the JHDM2 histone demethylase family.

The JHDM2a, NT (Lysine-specific Demethylase 3A, TSGA, JMJD1, KDM3A, JHDM2A, KIAA0742, DKFZp686A24246, DKFZp686P07111, JMJD1A, JmjC Domain-containing Histone Demethylation Protein 2A, Jumonji Domain-containing Protein 1A) (MaxLight 650) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's JHDM2a can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), FLISA. IHC: 1:10-1:50 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the JHDM2a kdm3a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "JHDM2a, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
