Host Note
Polyclonal anti Insulin was produced from sera of rabbits immunized with synthetic protein containing Insulin C-terminal antigenic determinants.
Dilution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4 or other diluents.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized antibody is stable for at least 1 year from date of receipt at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, this antibody can be stored in working aliquots at 2-8°C for one month, or at -20°C for six months without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

After removal of the precursor signal peptide, proinsulin is post-translationally cleaved into three peptides: the B chain and A chain peptides, which are covalently linked via two disulfide bonds to form insulin, and C-peptide. Binding of insulin to the insulin receptor (INSR) stimulates glucose uptake. A multitude of mutant alleles with phenotypic effects have been identified. There is a read-through gene, INS-IGF2, which overlaps with this gene at the 5' region and with the IGF2 gene at the 3' region. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
