Related Product Information for anti-IGF-1R antibody
Insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF-IR) is an RTK that stimulates growth in many different cell types, blocks apoptosis, acts as an intermediate of many growth hormone responses and may stimulate the growth of some types of cancer. The IGF-IR cognate ligand insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) promotes association of IGF-IR with Shc, GRB2 and Sos 1, which initiates Ras and ERK kinase cascades, thereby modifying transcription factor activity, such as activation of the Elk transcription factors. The modular phosphotyrosine binding (PTB) domains of insulin receptor substrate (IRS)-1 and -2 can associate with active IGF-IR and initiate phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-dependent downstream signals.

NCBI Description

This receptor binds insulin-like growth factor with a high affinity. It has tyrosine kinase activity. The insulin-like growth factor I receptor plays a critical role in transformation events. Cleavage of the precursor generates alpha and beta subunits. It is highly overexpressed in most malignant tissues where it functions as an anti-apoptotic agent by enhancing cell survival. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2014]

Uniprot Description

IGF1R: a receptor tyrosine kinase that binds insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) with a high affinity and IGF2 with a lower affinity. Functions as an anti-apoptotic agent by enhancing cell survival. Can play a critical role in transformation events. Cleavage of the precursor generates alpha and beta subunits. Tetramer of 2 alpha and 2 beta chains linked by disulfide bonds. The alpha chains contribute to the formation of the ligand- binding domain, while the beta chain carries the kinase domain. Interacts with PIK3R1 and with the PTB/PID domains of IRS1 and SHC1 in vitro when autophosphorylated on tyrosine residues. Mutated in rare cases of pre- and post-natal growth retardation. One SNP associated with increased human longevity. Increased expression of IGF1R and other pathway members associated with progression and malignancy in a range of cancers. Inhibitors: AG1024, AEW541.

Product Notes

The IGF-1R igf1r (Catalog #AAA3005552) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IGF-1R (Phospho-Y980) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IGF-1R can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IGF-1R igf1r for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IGF-1R, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
