NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
In vertebrates, the genes encoding the class of transcription factors called homeobox genes are found in clusters named A, B, C, and D on four separate chromosomes. Expression of these proteins is spatially and temporally regulated during embryonic development. This gene is part of the A cluster on chromosome 7 and encodes a DNA-binding transcription factor which may regulate gene expression, morphogenesis, and differentiation. The encoded protein may be involved in the placement of hindbrain segments in the proper location along the anterior-posterior axis during development. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
HOXA2: Sequence-specific transcription factor which is part of a developmental regulatory system that provides cells with specific positional identities on the anterior-posterior axis. Defects in HOXA2 are a cause of microtia hearing impairment and cleft palate (MHICP). Microtia is a congenital deformity of the outer ear and occurs in approximately one in 8'000-10'000 births. It is characterized by a small, abnormally shaped outer ear. It can be unilateral or bilateral. Syndromic forms of microtia occur in conjunction with other abnormalities. The most common associated malformations is the cleft palate, a congenital fissure of the soft and/or hard palate due to faulty fusion. Defects in HOXA2 are a cause of autosomal- recessive bilateral microtia, mixed symmetrical severe to profound hearing impairment and partial cleft palate. Belongs to the Antp homeobox family. Proboscipedia subfamily.

Product Notes
The HOXA2 hoxa2 (Catalog #AAA7048365) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HOXA2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HOXA2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1: 2000-1: 5000 IHC: 1: 20-1: 200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HOXA2 hoxa2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HOXA2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
