Related Product Information for anti-HMGA1 antibody
HMGA1, an 11KDa basic, DNA-binding non-histone nuclear protein, is a key member of HMGA protein family. It consists of a highly conserved AT-hook DNA-binding domain that mediates binding to AT-rich sequences in the minor groove of chromosomal DNA. It functions as architectural chromatin-binding transcription factor altering the conformation of DNA by modulating nuclear protein-DNA complexes. It is involved in many cellular processes including growth regulation, viral induction of beta-IFN gene and regulation of inducible gene transcription. It also physically interacts with transcription factors such as AP-1, Sp-1 and CAAT/enhancer binding protein-beta to modulate their ability to activate gene expression. It functions as a direct transcriptional target of c-Jun and c-Myc and is maximally expressed during embryonic development. Pathological role of HMGA1 include integration of retroviruses into chromosomes and enhancing metastasis of tumor cells.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a non-histone protein involved in many cellular processes, including regulation of inducible gene transcription, integration of retroviruses into chromosomes, and the metastatic progression of cancer cells. The encoded protein preferentially binds to the minor groove of A+T-rich regions in double-stranded DNA. It has little secondary structure in solution but assumes distinct conformations when bound to substrates such as DNA or other proteins. The encoded protein is frequently acetylated and is found in the nucleus. At least seven transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

HMGA1: HMG-I/Y bind preferentially to the minor groove of A+T rich regions in double stranded DNA. It is suggested that these proteins could function in nucleosome phasing and in the 3'-end processing of mRNA transcripts. They are also involved in the transcription regulation of genes containing, or in close proximity to A+T-rich regions. A chromosomal aberration involving HMGA1 is found in pulmonary chondroid hamartoma. Translocation t(6;14)(p21;q23-24) with RAD51B. Belongs to the HMGA family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The HMGA1 hmga1 (Catalog #AAA622576) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HMGA1 (AA9-21) (high mobility group AT-hook 1, HMG-R, HMGA1A, HMGIY, MGC12816, MGC4242, MGC4854, OTTHUMP00000016222, OTTHUMP00000016223, OTTHUMP00000016224, OTTHUMP00000039618, high-mobility group (nonhistone chromosomal) protein isoforms I and Y, nonhist reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HMGA1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: ELISA: 1:6000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HMGA1 hmga1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HMGA1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
