Related Product Information for anti-GPX1 antibody
Glutathione Peroxidase 1 (GPX1), also known as Cellular Glutathione Peroxidase, is a member of the glutathione peroxidase antioxidant enzyme family. The Glutathione Peroxidase family protects extracellular fluid components, enzymes and those on cell surfaces from oxidative stress by catalysing the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and lipid peroxides using reduced glutathione. GPX1 is a 92 kDa homotetramer with 23 kDa subunits in which contains a selenocysteine residue at the active site. GPX1 is an important antioxidant enzyme and protects red blood cells and other cells from oxidative damage. Deficiencies in red cell GPX1 have been associated with hemolytic anemia.

Uniprot Description

Glutathione peroxidase-like protein that protects cells from phospholipid hydroperoxides and nonphospholipid peroxides during oxidative stress (PubMed:10480913, PubMed:11445588). Has peroxidase activity using thioredoxin or glutathione as a reducing power. Involved in peroxisome formation (PubMed:22659048).

Product Notes

The GPX1 gpx1 (Catalog #AAA8501760) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GPX1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Rat, Pig and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GPX1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GPX1 gpx1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GPX1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
