Related Product Information for anti-GDNFR ALPHA antibody
Rabbit anti GDNFalpha antibody recognizes GDNFR alpha, also known as GFR&alpha-1 (GFRa Nomenclature Committee 1997), GDNF receptor alpha-1, RET ligand 1 or TGF-beta-related neurotrophic factor receptor 1. GFR&alpha-1 is a 465 amino acid ~52 kDa GPI anchored cell surface receptor for glial cell derived neutrophic factor (GDNF). GFR&alpha-1 is highly expressed in human gliomas (Wiesenhofer et al. 2000).

NCBI Description

Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and neurturin (NTN) are two structurally related, potent neurotrophic factors that play key roles in the control of neuron survival and differentiation. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the GDNF receptor family. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol(GPI)-linked cell surface receptor for both GDNF and NTN, and mediates activation of the RET tyrosine kinase receptor. This gene is a candidate gene for Hirschsprung disease. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

Uniprot Description

GFRA1: Receptor for GDNF. Mediates the GDNF-induced autophosphorylation and activation of the RET receptor. Belongs to the GDNFR family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor; Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q26.11

Cellular Component: extrinsic to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor receptor activity; receptor binding

Biological Process: axon guidance; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction

Product Notes

The GDNFR ALPHA gfra1 (Catalog #AAA221584) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RABBIT ANTI GDNFR ALPHA reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GDNFR ALPHA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Paraffin*, Western Blot (WB). Immunohistology - Paraffin: Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose. Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1/500; Maximum Dilution: 1/1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GDNFR ALPHA gfra1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GDNFR ALPHA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
