NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a protein that functions in postnatal oocyte-specific gene expression. The protein is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor that regulates multiple oocyte-specific genes, including genes involved in folliculogenesis and those that encode the zona pellucida. Mutations in this gene cause premature ovarian failure type 6. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Uniprot Description
FIGLA: Germline specific transcription factor implicated in postnatal oocyte-specific gene expression. Plays a key regulatory role in the expression of multiple oocyte-specific genes, including those that initiate folliculogenesis and those that encode the zona pellucida (ZP1, ZP2 and ZP3) required for fertilization and early embryonic survival. Essential for oocytes to survive and form primordial follicles. The persistence of FIGLA in adult females suggests that it may regulate additional pathways that are essential for normal ovarian development. Binds to the E- box (5'-CANNTG-3') of the ZPs (ZP1, ZP2, ZP3) promoters. Defects in FIGLA are the cause of premature ovarian failure type 6 (POF6). An ovarian disorder defined as the cessation of ovarian function under the age of 40 years. It is characterized by oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea, in the presence of elevated levels of serum gonadotropins and low estradiol.

Product Notes
The FIGLA figla (Catalog #AAA6011920) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The FIGLA, ID (FIGLA, BHLHC8, Factor in the germline alpha, Class C basic helix-loop-helix protein 8, Folliculogenesis-specific basic helix-loop-helix protein, Transcription factor FIGa) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's FIGLA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FIGLA figla for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FIGLA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
