Related Product Information for anti-FABP6 antibody
This gene encodes the ileal fatty acid binding protein. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. FABP6 and FABP1 (the liver fatty acid binding protein) are also able to bind bile acids. It is thought that FABPs roles include fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. Transcript variants generated by alternate transcription promoters and/or alternate splicing have been found for this gene.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the ileal fatty acid binding protein. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. FABP6 and FABP1 (the liver fatty acid binding protein) are also able to bind bile acids. It is thought that FABPs roles include fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. Transcript variants generated by alternate transcription promoters and/or alternate splicing have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Binds to bile acids and is involved in enterohepatic bile acid metabolism. Required for efficient apical to basolateral transport of conjugated bile acids in ileal enterocytes (). In vitro binds to bile acids in the order: deoxycholic acid > cholic acid > chenodeoxycholic acid and respective BA conjugation modifies affinities in the order taurine-conjugated > glycine-conjugated > unconjugated bile acids. Stimulates gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion ().

Product Notes

The FABP6 fabp6 (Catalog #AAA9133531) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The FABP6 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's FABP6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF). WB: 1:500 - 1:2000 IF: 1:50 - 1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FABP6 fabp6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MAFTGKFEME SEKNYDEFMK LLGISSDVIE KARNFKIVTE VQQDGQDFTW SQHYSGGHTM TNKFTVGKES NIQTMGGKTF KATVQMEGGK LVVNFPNYHQ TSEIVGDKLV EVSTIGGVTY ERVSKRLA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FABP6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
