NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the karyopherin family that is required for the transport of small RNAs and double-stranded RNA-binding proteins from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. The encoded protein translocates cargo through the nuclear pore complex in a RanGTP-dependent process. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Uniprot Description
Exportin-5: mediates the nuclear export of proteins bearing double-stranded RNA binding domains and double-stranded RNA. Overexpression enhances RNA interference mediated by shRNAs and miRNAs. In the nucleus it binds cooperatively to its cargo and to Ran in its active GTP-bound form. Docking of this complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) is mediated through binding to nucleoporins. Upon transit of a nuclear export complex into the cytoplasm, hydrolysis of Ran-GTP to Ran-GDP (induced by RANBP1 and RANGAP1, respectively) cause disassembly of the complex and release of the cargo from the export receptor. Exp5 then returns to the nuclear compartment by diffusion through the nuclear pore complex, to mediate another round of transport. Two isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The XPO5 xpo5 (Catalog #AAA2033729) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Exportin 5 (XPO5) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Exportin 5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:50-500 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the XPO5 xpo5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Exportin 5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
