Related Product Information for anti-EVPL antibody
Paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP) is an autoimmune blistering disease that is associated with underlying neoplasms. PNP sera react with multiple plakin family proteins, among which only envoplakin and periplakin are constantly detected. Envoplakin, a membrane-associated precursor of the epidermal cornified envelope and desmosomes, is a member of the plakin family of proteins. Envoplakin is expressed in epidermal and esophageal keratinocytes and nonepithelial stratified squamous epithelia, but not in simple epithelia or nonepithelial cells. Envoplakin co-localizes with desmoplakin at desmosomes and on keratin filaments throughout the differentiated layers of the epidermis, but mainly accumulates in nuclear and cytoplasmic aggregates with associated intermediate filaments. The envoplakin rod domain is required for aggregation and the linker domain is required for intermediate filament association. The distribution of envoplakin at the interdesmosomal plasma membrane depends on heterodimerization with periplakin

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the plakin family of proteins that forms a component of desmosomes and the epidermal cornified envelope. This gene is located in the tylosis oesophageal cancer locus on chromosome 17q25, and its deletion is associated with both familial and sporadic forms of oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Patients suffering from the autoimmune mucocutaneous disorder, paraneoplastic pemphigus, develop antibodies against the encoded protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]

Uniprot Description

Component of the cornified envelope of keratinocytes. May link the cornified envelope to desmosomes and intermediate filaments.

Product Notes

The EVPL evpl (Catalog #AAA3009572) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The EVPL Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's EVPL can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EVPL evpl for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EVPL, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
