Related Product Information for anti-EI24 antibody
EI24 Antibody: The etoposide-induced 24 (EI24) protein is an immediate-early induction target of p53-mediated apoptosis and functions as a tumor suppressor. EI24 contains six transmembrane domains and is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It binds to Bcl-2 and may contribute to apoptosis by modulating the activity and function of Bcl-2. EI24 is highly mutated in aggressive breast cancers and its loss in breast cancer tissue correlates with tumor invasiveness. Similar findings in invasive cervical carcinoma suggest that EI24 may be a promising therapeutic target in the treatment of invasive cancer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a putative tumor suppressor and has higher expression in p53-expressing cells than in control cells and is an immediate-early induction target of p53-mediated apoptosis. The encoded protein may suppress cell growth by inducing apoptotic cell death through the caspase 9 and mitochondrial pathways. This gene is located on human chromosome 11q24, a region frequently altered in cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes of this gene have been defined on chromosomes 1, 3, 7, and 8. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2014]

Uniprot Description

EI24: a p53-induced gene that appears to play a role in p53-mediated events. May activate apoptosis and reduce tumor invasiveness. Mutations in its gene have been associated with breast cancer.

Product Notes

The EI24 ei24 (Catalog #AAA150206) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The EI24 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's EI24 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). EI24 antibody can be used for detection of EI24 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 5 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EI24 ei24 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EI24, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
